Monster Magic at Work

I’m starting work on the Feb-Mar 2012 issue, and we’ve got a great story there from Wollaston Lake Lodge guide Chip Cromarty on how to tie a giant fly he calls Monster Magic. Here’s a close-up video of that fly in the water.

    I am proud to say I have fished monster magic with Chip and other guides. Though it can be tough to cast, catching a high 40's inch pike on this fly is intense. It will entice a large fish to strike even after it has seen other flies. The strike can almost rip the rod out of your hand. (Works very well for Texas largemouths to boot!)
