Last weekend, anglers from throughout the country teamed up with El Pescador Lodge in Ambergris Caye, Belize to participate in and support the 1st annual Bonefish & Tarpon Trust Tagging Tournament. El Pescador has been involved in BTT’s tagging program since 2009 and has taken a proactive approach in providing information about the biology, habitat and migration patterns of bonefish, tarpon and permit. 58 bonefish and 1 permit were tagged during the 3-day event. Adam Marton and Anthony Cuomo were the grand champions tagging and releasing 14 bonefish, and three thousand dollars was donated in their names to the organization. The event included a friendly casting competition and educational presentations concerning the state of these precious game fish and the scientific data that tagging has provided to aid in conservation.
