After being spoiled with a once in a lifetime Argentina trip, I had the swinging fly addiction in full force..  And there’s nothing like the winter months and chasing California Winter Steelhead.  The fish tend to be the biggest in the state and are straight in from the ocean making them incredibly hot!

This year we’ve had unusually low rainfall totals, which had made this a banner season with more fishable days than normal years.

    I'm planning a trip to the northern coast with the family. We need a good camp ground (showers), and good spring run steelhead. Suggestions?

      Most of the Ca Coastal rivers close on 4/1.. So keep that in mind..

      I believe the Eel I believe stays open.. Check the Ca Regs to confirm.. Jedediah Smith State Park on the Smith River is about as cool of a place as there is on the planet and it meets your requirements, but the Smith does close on 4/1.
