Freeing the Calapooia, a new film by Freshwaters Illustrated – Freshwater Ecology

Freshwaters Illustrated, a Northwest-based organization dedicated to providing the pubic with an understanding of freshwater ecology, made this superb new film about a dam removal project on a small Willamette Valley stream.   (Freshwaters Illustrated as a well-earned reputation for films that are as graceful as the rivers they feature; check out how fluid and intimate the underwater work is here).

As the Elwha’s dams were preparing to come down, three diversion dams were removed from the Calapooia River, thanks to the hard work of the Calapooia Watershed Council.  This is their story.
