Western Montana seasonal snowpacks are near normal or above and area flyshops are expecting an excellent fishing season. (Last year’s high snowpacks blew out Yellowstone Plateau region rivers until late July.) As of March 21 this year, snowpacks compared to normal on some of the best regional rivers were as follows: Upper Yellowstone 103%, Bighorn 115%, Bitterroot 108%, Madison 100%, Missouri mainstem 110, Gallatin 97%, and lower Clark Fork 103%.
