Stacking Fly Line on the Skiff

Louis Cahill Photo

Staking your fly line on the skiff smartly can help reduce tangles.  There is nothing worse than having to sit down on the skiff and pick apart a knot in your fly line while fish are swimming by.

Usually this can be avoided by simply laying the fly line on the deck of the skiff in large wide loops and spread them out.  The more the line is piled on top if it’s self the higher the odds of loops getting caught inside each other when shooting line to a target.

This tip will save lots of frustration especially in the wind.

With all of the knowledge you can offer here you give tips on something gravity takes care of?

How about a trip report with pictures…loading the boat, heading out, setting up, casting to fish, etc.
