Low Pro

Fish are amazingly aware of their surroundings and are always on the lookout for birds, river otters, fisherman, bigger fish and other predators.  Keep that in mind as you work the water.  On both lakes and rivers it is best to stay low and minimize noise.  Use every advantage you have, especially if it is as simple as kneeling down to lower your profile.  Sneaking up on a suspected lie and executing a short, accurate presentation often yields results.

You don't really appreciate this until you fish from a kayak or low profile watercraft, which lets you get 2 or 3 times as close to fish as wading. Kayak fishing has revolutionized not just the way I fly fish, but the way I wade.

Yup, can't stress enough how important it is. One small movement and they bolt!
