John Larison, Spey Casting
John Larison guides on Oregon’s steelhead rivers, specializing in two-handed rods and winter steelhead on the swung fly. He also teaches on-the-water casting and steelheading seminars year-round.
John is a native Oregonian who began fishing for steelhead at age seven, and fly-fishing at age eight. Although he has traveled and fished widely, John makes his home near the rainforest streams and wine-country rivers of his youth.
He is the Northwest field editor for Fly Fisherman, as well as the author of the best-selling book The Complete Steelheader. He is also the author of two fishing novels, Northwest of Normal and the recently released Holding Lies.
John is a River Steward for the Native Fish Society and an advocate for wild salmon and steelhead throughout their historic range. He can be reached at johnlarisonsteelheading.com
