You’ve likely heard of the Jackson Hole One Fly (http://www.jhonefly.org/). It is the original “one fly” type tournament whose proceeds benefit the future of Trout and fly fishing. In recent years Trout Unlimited has organized a similar event on Utah’s Green River. Dave Kumlien and Nancy Bradley of TU spearhead the event with the help of the Green River Guides Association (GROGA).
Participation consists of:
– Forming a 4 person team
– Paying the entry fee (remember it supports TU’s efforts to improve & restore America’s coldwater fisheries)
– Selecting your “Single Fly”
– Taking a float down the Green River with a local guide
Very simple and fun!
The Trout Unlimited 2012 Utah Single Fly will be held September 27th and 28th on the Green River at Dutch, John. The theme of this year’s event will be Stop the Flaming Gorge Pipeline! Rules and registration materials will be up soon at http://www.tu.org/events . You can also check out the Utah Single Fly Facebook page for event info http://www.facebook.com/pages/Trout-Unlimited-Utah-Single-Fly/381906204688.
I participated in this event the past two years and can attest it is a ton of fun and supports a great cause. The Green River fishes amazingly well in late September so grab some friends, build a team and help save the Green River.
