Florida Mayflies

by Paul Weamer   |  September 15th, 2011 5

Just a couple more interesting tidbits about Florida mayflies to go along with my Jet Lag blog.  This link shows a map which highlights the distribution of  Hexagenia orlando mayflies in Florida: http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/distr/insects/mfly/fl/255.htm

This is one is the USGS (United States Geological Survey) web page for Florida’s mayflies: http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/distr/insects/mfly/fl/toc.htm

I was surprised by the number of mayfly species that live in Florida.  And I know that someone has to be throwing dry flies at  big bass down there, finding great little-known fishing opportunities while the tarpon and bones get all the press.
