The Mayfly Guide by Al Caucci

The Mayfly Guide by Al Caucci

Catskill Fly Fishing Museum Hall of Fame member, Al Caucci, has a new book. This is Caucci's first book since the untimely passing of his friend and long-time co-author Bob Nastasi. Together, Caucci and Nastasi revolutionized fly fishing with their Comparadun fly patterns and their books Hatches and Hatches II. Al is a legendary hatch-matcher, and I've learned a great deal from his previous books. I'm sure that this effort will be no different.

Here's a synopsis of the book from the Scott & Nix, Inc. web site:

The Mayfly Guide uses an easy-to-follow system for identification of the most important species of mayflies at all stages of development from nymph, dun, to spinner. Each step in the process is clearly explained and illustrated to lead anglers from a specimen gathered at streamside to accounts organized by family, genus, and species. The guide includes complete identification text, measurements, distribution, habitat, time of occurrence, and more. With up-to-date taxonomy, detailed diagrams, descriptive tables, and color photographs, this book will help anglers resolve the difficulties of accurately matching the hatch and to determine the best imitation for feeding trout.

It's great to see another important book from one of fly fishing's living legends.
