TU sponsors 2012 Fly Fishing Film Tour

Organization hopes to reach filmgoers with message of conservation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Trout Unlimited announced today that it will sponsor the 2012 edition of the Fly Fishing Film Tour, the largest film tour of its kind with dozens of stops from coast to coast and throughout Canada.

"The Fly Fishing Film Tour reaches out to the entire fly fishing realm and offers a bit of an escape to those of us who unfortunately spend more time dreaming than we do fishing," said Chris Hunt, TU's director of communications. "That's the audience that needs to hear TU's conservation message, and we need those folks to understand that their involvement in conservation through TU is a necessary component of fly fishing. It is part of becoming that well-rounded, complete angler we all want to be."

This year's tour stops will be formally announced in December by the F3T producers. Film screenings will start early in 2012 and likely continue through next fall.

"This is a good partnership," said Chris Keig of the Fly Fishing Film Tour. "We believe that our audience truly believes in conservation and this partnership will allow them to get out and help save and protect their home waters through their local TU chapters and conservation groups.  If we can help deliver TU's message to our audience of filmgoers, we'll not only help TU, but we'll help fly fishing in general."

Fly Fishing Film Tour screenings are very well-attended events, simply because the quality of the filmmaking on display is unmatched. Many of the events take place in more of a "concert" atmosphere, where anglers of all ages mingle with fishing buddies and take in some of the most breathtaking movie-making available today.

Anyone interested in organizing an F3T production should contact the F3T at (303) 815-1070. TU chapter leaders signing up early for a screening will get added benefits and event promotion, as they'll be included in F3T's marketing campaign that kicks off in December.
