20 Incher Stone Step 1
Place the bead on the hook and push it up to the eye. Make about a dozen turns of lead wire around the shank. Break off the ends of the lead and push the wraps up into the back of the bead. Start the thread at the back of the lead wrap and make a thread base back to the bend.
20 Incher Stone Step 6
Tie in a half dozen peacock herls by their tips and wrap back over them to the bend.
20 Incher Stone Step 7
Wrap the peacock forward forming a thick abdomen. Tie off the peacock at the 80 percent point and clip.
20 Incher Stone Step 8
Spiral wrap the floss forward over the abdomen and tie if off at the front. Clip the excess.
20 Incher Stone Step 9
Tie in a turkey tail slip on top of the abdomen at the seventy percent point with the inside of the feather facing up.
20 Incher Stone Step 10
Prepare a partridge body feather by stripping the base and preening the fibers back from the tip as shown.
20 Incher Stone Step 11
Tie in the partridge body feather by its tip with the inside of the feather facing up right on top of the turkey slip.
20 Incher Stone Step 12
Dub the front of the hook to form a full thorax right up to the back of the bead.
20 Incher Stone Step 13
Pull the partridge feather forward over the top of the dubbed thorax and tie it down behind the bead.
20 Incher Stone Step 14
Pull the turkey slip forward over the top of both the partridge feather and the thorax and tie it down behind the bead as well. Clip the butt ends of the partridge and the turkey.
20 Incher Stone Step 15
Dub a small collar behind the bead to hide the wingcase stubs and whip finish.
