NON-SLIP LOOP KNOT

Draw the knot tight by pulling on the fly, the tag end, and the standing line. Use this knot to tie on most streamers, nymphs, and popping bugs, but don’t use it for dry flies. The loop lets the fly swing more freely. However, on flies smaller than #12, the loop is too large. The knot can be used for braided wire; only one turn around the standing end is needed.

Form an overhand knot in the tag end, but do not tighten.

Thread tag end through hook eye and take back through overhand knot "hole". Make sure you go in the same way the tag originally came out.

Wrap tag around standing line the recommended number of times. [ 7 turns - 8x to 3x, 5 turns - 2x to 0x , 4 turns - 20lb to 40lb, 3 turns - 40lb to 60lb, 2 turns - over 60lb ]

Place tag end back through original overhand knot, making sure to go in, the same way it came out. Note: Keeping the overhand knot to less than 1/4- inch diameter will help keep the end loop smaller as well. Adjust down as needed.

Wet and pull tight by pulling on both the tag and standing ends.
