Grundéns has used more than 100 years of experience on commercial fishing boats on the North Sea and the Bering Sea—as well as their own experience in wet and rainy Poulsbo, Washington, and the nearby Olympic Peninsula—to create their first ever fly-fishing wading jacket in collaboration with Gore-Tex.
The Portal is built with a 3-layer Gore-Tex laminate to be part of your entire wading system with strategically positioned pass-through handwarmer pockets that also give you access to your wader storage pockets and/or your wader handwarmer pockets. The Portal is not for summer thunderstorms—this is for the all-day wet and cold conditions you find while fishing in the winter on the West Coast, for Great Lakes steelhead, fall on the Firehole, or anywhere else where the weather conspires to keep you from the best fishing of the year.

The Portal has dunkable shingled neoprene sleeve cuffs to deal with casting in the rain, freeing your fly from the bottom, or releasing the trophy of a lifetime.
It has two large chest storage pockets sized for fly boxes, and positioned high for deep wading situations. It also has a single exterior welded and zippered fly box-size pocket (orange zipper) with laser-cut holes so you can dispense tippet without ever opening the pocket. On the left chest there is a tool dock for clamps and zingers, and a looped fly field to store wet flies.
The drop hood design has a high inside collar to keep rain and wind off your face, and a deep enveloping storm hood you can cinch over a baseball cap or warm knitted hat for a layered shield against the elements. It’s available in six sizes from small to 3XL, and just one color: black.
