Euro Nymphing

Euro Nymphing

I had the opportunity to spend a day on the river with a couple of good friends yesterday. Devin Olsen and Glade Gunther have put up with my riverside tomfoolery too many times to count but since both are cursed with a serious case of angling addiction they still answer my phone calls........well, most of them ;)

Devin and Glade are well rounded Trout anglers and are exceptionally good at Euro Nymphing. Since Trout do more than 90% of their feeding subsurface, nymphing is usually the best way to maximize your catch. If you haven't tried Euro Nymphing watch the short video below to see how easy it can be and then head to your favorite flyshop and pick up the current issue (Gear Guide 2012) of Fly Fisherman Magazine. In the mag you will find the usual quality articles and reviews as well as my first contribution to the print magazine. My article walks you through Euro Nymphing basics, lists why and where it works and gives an easy to build leader formula. Following the article is a Euro Nymphing rod review to help you choose the proper rod for Euro techniques.

Learn all you can about this technique. Mastering Euro Nymphing will improve your catch and efficiency on the water.
