Most fly anglers that have any kind of salt water experience have learned that changing their casting style to an all side casting style is extremely beneficial in many ways.
The good old wind seems to blow all too much in every salt water environment. Keeping your line low to the water while casting helps to restrict the winds effect on the line and in return helps the angler retain line and loop control. This will then help distance and accuracy.
One thing to remember when going low on a side cast is that you must increase line speed big time to help reduce the fly or the line hitting the water at the end of each false cast.
Try to incorporate low side casts to your salt water fishing and watch the line control increase when it heavy winds.
