Costa Broadbill with Sunrise Silver Mirror 580 lens

Costa Broadbill with Sunrise Silver Mirror 580 lens

“This sunglass review first appeared in the 2020 Gear Guide, now on sale at bookstores and fly shop nationwide, and also at”

Bringing one pair of sunglasses on a fishing trip is a little like bringing just one rod, one reel, and one fly line. You’re all set to deal with one set of circumstances. If the sun is bright, amber or copper polarized lenses allow 10% of available light to pass through the lens, protecting your eyes from UV rays and reducing eyestrain. But in early morning, late evening, or on cloudy days, those lenses are too dark and may actually prevent you from spotting fish. The best fishing is often in those low-light conditions, and that’s why Costa made the yellow-tinted Sunrise lenses that allow 30% of available light to pass through, and enhance contrast so you can spot fish in difficult conditions. $270 |
