Costa Pro Series Sunglasses

Popular Blackfin and Fantail models retrofitted with latest tech.

When the original Blackfin and Fantail frames came out more than a decade ago, they didn’t just become two of the best-selling fishing glasses of all time, they became iconic fishing styles. In the years that passed, Costa constantly introduced new frames with technical improvements that created better fishing glasses. But fly fishers still loved the classic look of the full-coverage Blackfin and slimmer Fantail frames. The solution was to retrofit those popular frames with the most recent technology to create the Blackfin PRO (shown here) and Fantail PRO. Both have vented and fully adjustable nose pads for a customizable fit; sweat channels and eyewire drains on the inside of the frames to prevent water droplets from getting on the lenses; side shields and hooding to eliminate side glare; sticky Hydrolite temple pads to keep the frames in place in hot, sweaty conditions; and metal keeper slots. Both have the 580 lens technology Costa is famous for—it eliminates 100% of high-energy blue light in the wavelengths of 380 to 440 nanometers, and also filters out harsh yellow light at 580 nm to create a color-enhancing polarizing lens that allows you to see fish—and the rest of the world—with greater clarity. $270, costadelmar.com
