Enbridge Pipeline Update

Enbridge Pipeline Update

In the Oct-Dec 2011 issue we had a story called "Enbridge's Run to the Ocean". It was about a proposed Enbridge pipeline for oil that would run from the Alberta tar sands to the BC coastline for export overseasmainly to China. The problem for fly fishers is that the pipeline will cross sensitive Skeena tributaries such as the Morice and the headwaters of the Copper. Major conservation groups are concerned about the impacts of building the 1,170 km pipeline through a sensitive temperate rainforest. This CBC news report is meant as a follow-up to the ongoing political process going on in Canada right now. A group called Ethical Oil is accusing conservation groups of "foreign funding, foreign influence" and claiming they are not stakeholders in the political process.
