G.Loomis went back to the drawing board on their enormously popular made-in-Washington, all-water, all-seasons rod series, and in March unveiled the new IMX-PRO V2. Version 2 is rolled on new mandrels with new multi-taper designs, and combines Conduit Core and the GL-7 resin system for a complete range of fresh- and saltwater applications—everything from delicate dry-fly presentations on spring creeks to smallmouth bass, redfish in the grass, and oceanside tarpon that require every bit of muscle a rod can muster. There’s even a few Shortspey models for those who like to swing and cover big sections of river with lighter line weights.

Whatever your passion, the IMX-PRO V2 is meant to be the dependable workhorse you can depend on day in and day out without breaking the bank. It’s something you buy to get the job done, not just to show off to your friends.

The saltwater rods are tuned up in three specific performance categories. IMX-PRO V2S tracks better in the wind, has more power to lift more line for quicker re-casts, and it gives you more fish-fighting control when you find the really big girls. The 9-foot rods are available in line weight 6 through 12 and are engineered to deliver the power through the butt section and a tip that delivers better tracking and line pickup.

IMX-PRO V2 Freshwater rods were crafted to minimize weight, increase impact resistance for those who use a lot of weighted beadhead nymphs and Clouser Minnows, and—like the saltwater rods—improve rod-tip tracking for razor accuracy when you’re dealing with rising trout. They come in 11 different models from 9- or 10-foot 4-weights all the way up to 8-weights in lengths of 8'10" and 10 feet.

IMX-PRO V2 Shortspey rods do everything you want when you are Spey casting for trout—a comfortable swing weight, powerful punch like your bigger Spey rods, and the ability to lift and mend but still feel the fly swimming and detect subtle strikes. The 4-piece rods are all 11"1' and come in line weights 2, 3, and 4.
