Sure, phone cases need to be functional and protect your valuable device, but this protective shell can also be an expression of your interests, or merely show you have good taste in artwork. Nick Mayer Art Tough Phone Cases ($30, nickmayerart.com) are white, impact-resistant, and shockproof cases available with nine different designs by artist Nick Mayer, including brown trout, brook trout, false albacore, giant trevally, yellowfin tuna, and bonefish. The polymer cases have a snap-on design with a rubber liner that allows easy access to the charging port, on/off switch, and fully functioning buttons. Available for both Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy.

Salmon Return to the Klamath River

With the Klamath River flowing completely free for the first time in over 100 years, the next question was how soon the salmon would return. It didn't take long. In October, scientists with CalTrout documented Chinook salmon beginning to migrate beyond the site of the former Iron Gate Dam for the first time since 1912. Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) then confirmed that on October 16 that a run of Chinook salmon was identified by biologists in a tributary of the Klamath River.
