Have you ever been wading the flats and noticed a blue crab in the defensive position like this one? If so you can count on bones or permit at some time or another feeding in this area. The only thing a crab can do to protect himself is to run and hide. When they run out of options it's time to fight. This crab is in full on defense mode to say the least. Looking at this picture shows us what bones and permit see when they are looking for food. Knowing this will help any fly angler to learn how to effectively fish there a fly. This crab will do battle with any bonefish in the area and have a good chance. A permit fight on the other hand will be a losing battle for sure!
