Permit Tactics for A Calm Day

Permit Tactics for A Calm Day

Permit fishing in calm weather conditions can be extra challenging. Clear and slick flat water seem to make permit even more spooky than normal. Below are some tactics that any permit angler can use to increase odds of just presenting a fly to a permit in these tuff conditions.

Permit Tactics

  • Bend your Knees and stay as low as possible while casting
  • Make a side cast to keep your line from traveling high in the air
  • Slow down your casting stroke as much as you can. Any quick movements will send most permit into hyper space
  • Most important – get out of the boat and wade to the permit if possible. This tactic allows you to very close to permit even in calm conditions.
