Stronger drag and more durability in a lighter package.

Sage Introduces New Enforcer Saltwater Reel Family

Sage recently announced the introduction of the new Enforcer series of reels, designed for flats-specific saltwater fly fishing.

Among other innovations, the Enforcer’s maximum drag has been increased by over 50 percent over the reel’s predecessor, the Spectrum Max. The Enforcer offers eight pounds of resistance at the arbor in the 7/8 size, 15 pounds in the 9/10 size, and 17 pounds in the 11/12 size. It also has larger drag discs to better disperse pressure and maintain power consistency, along with beefier O-rings.

“The Enforcer has been designed to bring exceptional stability and smoothness to the fish fight–this has been achieved through an updated bearing configuration,” Joseph Conrad, Sage Reel Designer, said. “Compared to the previous Spectrum Max family, we have also increased the upper limit of resistance in the drag system, so that you have smooth stopping power when it matters.”

The Enforcer is available in weights 7 through 12, and in three colors (Tempest Blue, Stealth, and Granite).

The announcement comes on the heels of the announcement of Sage's new SALT R8 fly rod series.

This attractive reel has a matte finish aerospace grade aluminum, SCS drag, radius cornered reel foot to prevent line abrasion, large arbor, and more. Basically, Sage has improved upon what already worked well.

Available in weights 7 through 12, and in three colors (Tempest Blue, Stealth, and Granite).
