Review: Simms Fall Run Collared Jacket

$140 | simmsfishing.com

This lightweight, versatile jacket for fall and spring fishing is built inside and out from recycled materials. The arms and lower body have internal quilting so there’s a smooth exterior to reduce wear and tear when you layer it with waders or bibs. It’s super light and compressible, making it perfect for seasons where the jacket goes on/off, and often needs to be stowed.

The outside shell is 58 grams per square meter (gsm) 100% recycled ripstop polyester treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) coating. The insulation is 60g PrimaLoft Black Eco—60g in the body and 40g in the sleeves. The lining is 47 gsm, 100% recycled polyester taffeta, also treated with a DWR. While the DWR treatment on both sides is intended to keep the insulation dry, the PrimaLoft Black Eco insulation itself is designed to have a loft similar to goose down, but perform much better when wet. The fluffy polyester fibers are hydrophobic so you stay dry, and the insulation retains its warmth even in extremely wet  conditions. Primaloft Black Eco is made from 100% recycled consumer and industrial plastic waste. Available in navy, dark stone, and black, and in six sizes S to 3XL.
