Emily Zeiders announced Nov. 16, 2011 that she has sold the famous Yellow Breeches Outfitters fly shop in Boiling Springs, PA to Roland Harrison of Mechanicsburg. Harrison (age 61), a retired executive at the Harrisburg YMCA, and an experienced fly fisher since 1983 who has always dreamed about owning a fly shop. He says he will immediately expand the store's fly-fishing inventory, bring back Orvis products, renew fly-tying classes and seminars, and expand offerings for backpackers (the Appalachian Trail runs through Boiling Springs).
Harrison also said he will "upgrade the decor" of the historic flyshop, which has for many decades been a magnet for some of America's most famous fly fishers, including Ed Shenk and Ed Koch (who were previous co-owners), Charlie Fox, Vince Marinaro, Charles Wetzel, Alvin Grove, and most members of the Harrisburg Fly Fishers and regional and national TU clubs. All haunted the nearby iconic trout waters--The Letort and Yellow Breeches. Emily and Bill Zeiders bought the shop in 1993 from susan Gramsa and ran it together until recently, then under Emily's management until the sale.
